Hello there and Welcome to Dust Wars. Please enjoy your stay. While you are here, we ask you follow a few rules.
0: Follow the Proboards ToS.
You agree to these terms to make an account, and they capture a lot under them. For those who don’t read them, here is a rundown on what those entail.
0a: You are in charge of your own interactions. Eg. You can’t blame Proboards for your actions or a consequence of your actions.
0b: The staff of the site has ultimate authority and jurisdiction over the content of the site. If you post something objectionable by Proboards or our rules, there will be consequences.
0c: You Own your content. If you post it, it is yours and anyone who legally wants to use it must receive consent from you to do so. This permission can be revoked at any time. If you agree to the ToS, Proboards can use this content without your consent.
0d: Defamatory or actionable remarks can be legally acted upon if something happens because of them. Play nicely with your words.
0e: Objectionable Content
0e1: You cannot harass, defame, abuse, or threaten another member.
0e2: You cannot post pornographic material.
0e3: You cannot glorify the use of racist terms, the use of illegal substances, gambling, or the sale of weapons.
0e3: You cannot encourage others to do the above.
0f: Prohibited Use
0f1: You cannot harass stalk another member outside the site.
0f2: You cannot provide false information on your identity or impersonate someone you are not.
0f3: You cannot try to gain personal information (phone numbers, etc) of other members.
0g: You must comply with all US and local laws.
0h: If legal action is taken, you are responsible for all costs incurred.
Yeah, that’s a lot. But these rules apply and cover a number of rules forums put in place automatically. Those formal ones out of the way, here are a couple in a more casual sense:
1: Be Respectful.
Be it a staff member, another member, or a guest, treat them with the utmost respect. If you wouldn’t want someone doing or saying something to you, or think someone else might find it objectionable, do not do it.
2: Refrain from offensive content.
Though this is covered rather heavily in the ToS, we would like to restate a few things. Don’t do anything that someone might find offensive or objectionable. Excessive cursing, gore/violence, and heated “discussions” on political or religious content fall under this umbrella.
Those (including rule 0) are our big 3. The other rules apply to the roleplay itself:
3: Use English
We are primarily an English speaking user base. Use English in your posts. Proper grammar and spelling are also important when contributing content.
4: 1 Account, 1 Character.
Make a new account for each character. If you would like a “Main” Account, go ahead and make that at some point and point your other accounts back towards it using the "Played By" custom profile field.
5: Limits
We know that there are some of you who can run 10 characters in 30 threads each, but at a certain point, things become excessive and not fun for others. A maximum of 4 characters and 5 threads active at a time per character will be loosely enforced. (The former more so than the latter.)
6: No godmodding.
Be it godmodding of a hit landing, godmodding by knowing something not publicly known about your opponent, or godmodding their actions, the effect is all the same. It reduces the positive experience for anyone around you and will be met with disciplinary action.
7: What you have is what you’ve got.
If it is not in your profile or noted at the opening of a thread, you do not have a particular thing and will not be able to use said thing (or ability) in your posts.
8: Actions
You may act in your posts. Though most actions are reactionary, you can also do certain things - like interrupt someone’s monologue or prepare a countermeasure should they do something in particular in their post.
9: You can die.
You can die. “Death” is in the lexicon for a reason. Any thread is death-enabled, even if you are walking around town or sleeping in a barracks.
Break these rules and there will be consequences to match. Breaking any of the Big Three, depending on severity can result in one to multiple warnings, if not an outright ban from the site. Breaking the following seven may result in a warning or a slap on the wrist, depending again on severity of the infraction. You lose 1 warning level per month. At a warning level of 3, you are banned for a week. If you hit 4, you are permanently banned from the site.
Thank you for your time and attention. Now, if we can direct you to our site Lore and Lexicon, you can get started on your way to making a character.
All the best,
